Property Description
At the end of a quiet gravel road, down a winding dirt driveway, secreted away among the pines
& along the cool waters of the Crooked River, you'll find an off grid tiny home nestled on 3.4 acres w/284 ft of frontage on the Crooked River. This has been a profitable Airbnb & featured in 2 magazines & a book.
The tiny house is 10' x 14' with an 8' x 10' loft. The house is 'turn key,' fully furnished and fully insulated. House is completely off-grid, 'unplugged,' w/sink drainage/greywater system, low maintenance composting toilet in separate outbuilding shared with 8' x 10' seasonal guest house
This is a perfect spot to forget all problems. Kitchen w/ gas stove top, pull out couch, & upstairs loft w/queen size bed. The woodstove is great in the fall. There is a separate screen house w/hammocks.
Follow the trail to the right of the screen house down to the riverbank. There's also a deeper area for swimming & splashing directly to your left once you enter the river. Enjoy fishing or just taking it easy.
Norway, Bethel & Bridgton are within 20 minutes & offer most major services. The Western Foothills Land Trust has a website w/trails, maps, & info if you'd like to explore the area. Roberts Farm Preserve has several miles of well maintained walking trails. There are plenty of places to hike such as Pleasant Mountain, White Cap, & Caribou Mountain. If you can make it up to Grafton Notch, definitely worth checking out. For local hikes, Mount Tire'm or Hawk Mountain. Each offers amazing views from the summit.
If you are looking for a more relaxing setting there are great restaurants not far away as well. Norway Brewing Co. & Normad are said to be favorites.
If you wish to partake in warmer (and deeper) waters, there are many other places to swim within a 10-minute driving radius. Keoka Lake is the warmest (and is quite shallow), with a public boat launch & swim dock. Bear Pond is great for longer swimming & floating sessions; Kezar Falls Gorge is a hidden gem
